Photoville is 15 years old. I remember when the quirky shipping container exhibit made its first appearance on the Brooklyn shoreline in the new park.

From those humble beginnings, the 15th incarnation opens May 16 in over 85 locations across all five boroughs, with the iconic Brooklyn Bridge Park location serving as the hub through May 30, 2026. AND it’s still free.

Opening night in the the Smorgasburg Beer Garden features a special evening of photography under the Brooklyn Bridge showcasing our home town: Boroughs in Focus.

With two full days of family-friendly activities on opening weekend, Photoville has much to offer. Educators are invited to sign up for the free Education Day Field Trips throughout the full two weeks. Free programming includes a photobooth from VSCO, a tintype portrait booth from the Penumbra Foundation, doggy PAW-traits with the Wet Nose Pawject, and family arts-and-crafts with DUMBO-based arts studio Creatively Wild and artist Cynthia Santos Briones, plus a special VR experience from Doctors Without Borders.

Sometimes its political, but I have found most of the exhibits to make you think. The full catalog of exhibits is available on PHOTOVILLE.COM
