It has been an interesting 2025.
For those who know me, it started rough. Lots of personal issues that kept it from truly being a “Happy New Year.” The best I can say is, “Good riddance 2024.” Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a terrible year except for the beginning and the end. The middle was fun.
So let’s get into 2025 with some photos and fun.
NEW ENGLAND MASTERS SKI RACING Okemo Super G and GS
Not much makes me happier than stepping into my skis and heading to a race course, slipping down with the skiers, listening to them discuss the flow of the course and where my best pictures will take place.
Rule #1, listen to the athletes. They know way better than you do.
Okemo was always one of my favorite mountains. They joined that dreaded list of way too expensive and way too crowded. But wow, can they put on an impressive race. The combo of Upper and Lower Chief made one special race trail.
Hockey, hockey and more hockey
I have watched Thomas Gale develop as a premier goaltender for the College of the Holy Cross.
Named to the 2025 Mike Richter Award Watch List in January, Gale carries a 2.33 goals-against average, fourth nationally, and .921 save percentage, fifth nationally, in his senior season.
Today, he was honored as Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Month for January. His stellar performance helped the Crusaders achieve a 5-1-1 record, with a 2.10 goals-against average and an impressive .930 save percentage. He recorded 198 saves over seven games in January.
I love his idiosyncrasies. I got the first shot of the water bottle spray at the first timeout. Then it became a thing. I was trying to get the perfect stream of water coming from the bottle.
By the way, they beat Canisius 4-1!
