GOWANUS after Jonas: Superfund Beauty

Gowanus

Everytime I walk to the Gowanus Canal, I see something unique. It is amazing to me that this Superfund site can have such beauty in its dusgusting-ness.

Last night's visit after Winter Storm Jonas was no different. Walking across the Union Street bridge, the light cast across a snow covered pylon almost looked like a flower.

And when I found the ice flows in the Third Street basin behind Whole Foods, it made the night even more worthwhile.

Horse Pull at the Middlefield Fair

When my friend Sarah Foley asked me to judge the photo contest at the Middlefield Fair, I immediately said yes. Not only did I want to see the types of photographs that would be entered, I really wanted to see the fair itself.

Summer Streets 2017

On three consecutive Saturdays in August - the 5th, 12th, and 19th - nearly seven miles of New York City’s streets are opened for people to play, run, walk and bike during the tenth annual Summer Streets. In 2016, nearly 300,000 people took advantage of the open streets.
