Our New President

The Old Can Factory | Rooftop Films | Gowanus

Can you make a documentary in which nothing is true? That was the initial idea behind Maxim Pozdorovkin’s Our New President.

Rooftop Films brings the story of Donald Trump's election told entirely through Russian propaganda in "Our New President" atop the Old Can Factory in Gowanus on Thursday, August 9, 2018.

By turns horrifying and hilarious, the film is a satirical portrait of Russian meddling in the 2016 election that reveals an empire of fake news and the tactics of modern day information warfare.

At under 80 minutes, Our New President is a brief but head-spinning immersion into an alternate universe where Hillary Clinton is cursed by an ancient mummy and Donald Trump is somehow the savior of both the U.S. and Russia, a leader whom Russians take to heart while crowing about how his election represents the most significant Russian victory since they annexed Crimea.

A vodka-soaked, fever-dream documenty of Donald Drumpf’s rise to power as told by Russian propaganda.

There’s nothing like a magical night under the stars listening to music. When that experience includes one of my favorite artists appearing in one of my favorite places in the world, it’s at the top of my bucket list.

It all came to be with a simple Facebook post.

50 years ago, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon.

On July 20, 1969, humans walked on another world for the first time in history, achieving the goal that President John F. Kennedy had set in 1961, before Americans had even orbited the Earth.
