Lift Off! A Waterfront Kite Festival

Brooklyn Bridge Park | Harbor View Lawn | Brooklyn Heights

Brooklyn Bridge Park's Harbor View Lawn is the location for a day of flight as kites and rockets take to the sky at Lift Off! A Waterfront Kite Festival on Saturday, May 5, 2018, beginning at 12pm. Watch your kite soar above the Manhattan skyline and explore the science of flight.

This family-friendly festival unites S.T.E.A.M concepts and outdoor adventures as partner organizations help you explore flight.

Build parachutes and test them in wind tunnels with The Brooklyn Robot Foundry. Sample the air’s environment and see what inhabits the air we breathe with Genspace.

Check out robotic air propellers and learn about air circulation with Nory. Design and create your own rocket with Private Picassos.

Use a variety of textiles to make colorful hand kites with SPARK by Brooklyn Children’s Museum. Transform a basic brown lunch bag into an aerodynamic kite with STEM Kids NYC. And make DIY pinwheels with the Conservancy’s own Environmental Education Center.

New kites will be available for purchase.
